Florica Ciodaru-Courriol

Florica Ciodaru-Courriol was born near Craiova, since 1980 she has been living in Lyon. She holds a PhD in Comparative Literature and is one of France’s most prominent Romanian translators. As a long-term supporter of Romanian literature abroad, she also participates in the Festival of the Debut Novel in Chambéry. Florica Ciodaru-Courriol taught many years at „Jean Moulin“ University and at the „École Normale Supérieure“ in Lyon. In addition, she has published several essays and articles in specialist magazines. From the Romanian she mostly translates new modern novel authors, including Hortensia Papadat-Bengescu, Rodica Draghincescu, Marta Petreu, Magda Cârneci, Doina Ruști, and Corina Sabău. Among her translations from the French into the Romanian are Gustave Flaubert’s Madame Bovary, Florence Noiville’s L’Attachement, Slobodan Despot’s Le miel, and Catherine Lovey’s Monsieur et Madame Rivaz.
