Dževad Karahasan, born in 1953 in Duvno, writes prose, theatre plays and essays. He wrote about the siege of Sarajevo in his Diary of an Exodus (Dnevnik selidbe), translated into 10 languages, as well as in his novels Sara i Serafina and Šahrijarov prsten. His works have been distinguished with many international prizes. He lives and works in Sarajevo and Graz.
