Andrei Anastasescu was born in 1981 in Râmnicu-Vâlcea (Romania). He studied German language and literature studies, Dutch studies and literary translation in Bucharest and worked as a reader. He now works as a member of the German Book Information Centre and as a translator of German and Durch literature in Bucharest. From German he has translated Die neuen Leiden des jungen W. (title of the English translation: The New Sorrows of the Young Werther) by Ulrich Plenzdorf, Heimsuchung (title of the English translation: Visitation) by Jenny Erpenbeck and Berliner Kindheit um neunzehnhundert (title of the English translation: Berlin Childhood Around 1900) by Walter Benjamin; from Dutch Schaduwkind (title of the English translation: Shadow Child) by P. F. Thomése, Een schitterend gebrek (title of the English translation: In Lucia’s Eyes) by Arthur Japin and De passievrucht (title of the English translation: The Passion Fruit) by Karel Glastra van Loon.
