The main character of the novel, an author, records the memories of his childhood. The narrator is gentle and savage at the same time, just like the people in his homeland, on the border between the Mediterranean and the Balkans. The city in the mirror, of which he dreams, is Dubrovnik, a perfect city, near and far, an eternal place of longing. A novel about a father and about fathers of a kind which no longer exist. A novel, which was worth waiting for, because it realises the idea that our life is shaped by what we remember, and not by what we have experienced.
