Adem Pllana, born in 1948 in Lajthishtë (Kosovo), studied Albanian Language and Literature in Prishtina. In the 1970s, he first worked as a primary school teacher in Albanian and French. He then  worked as a translator for the power plant in Kastriot and later for the National Bank of Kosovo. He fled to Sydney during the war. After his return to Kosovo, he worked as a lector for the daily newspaper Koha Ditore and Koha publishing company.

Adem Pllana died on May 17, 2010, only a few days before the release of his translation of the book Grad u Zrcalu by Mirko Kovač.
