Janka Selimi, born in 1935 in Dobrich (Bulgaria), studied Russian at Moscow University. She worked for many years as a translator in Bulgarian at Radio Tirana and taught Russian and Bulgarian at the university there. Janka Selimi translates from  Bulgarian, Macedonian, Russian, Serbian and Croatian. Her publications include short stories of the authors Stefan Canev, Jordan Jovkov, Bllaga Dimitrova, Boja Biolçev and Aleksandar Tomov as well as the Albanian translations of Hotel Grand (Renato Baretić) and Fosforne brojanice (Jovan Nikolaidis).
