Edo Popović, born in 1957 in Livno (Bosnia and Herzegovina), studied at the Philosophical Faculty in Zagreb, where he has lived since 1968. His first book,  Ponoćni boogie, is regarded as the most charismatic book of the literary generation of the 1980s. During the war years he published numerous reportages from war locations in Croatia and Bosnia and Herzegovina. During a grant residency in Graz in 2000 he wrote his autobiographical diary, Kameni pas. Urban sensitivity, mistrust of the authorities, a free rapport with language, a cultivated style, conciseness, humour and a fast pace are the basic characteristics of his prose. His works have been translated into German, English, Polish and Slovenian.
