Rosie und der Urgroßvater
Monika Helfer, Michael Köhlmeier
Publisher: Carl Hanser Verlag
Rosie’s family lives in the USA, far away from the small town in Austria in which their Jewish ancestors had been living for generations. But her great grandfather still remembers some old stories about the lives of the Jews there. Rosie likes to listen when he speaks about Mendel, the peddler wit sore feet, and about the little Sophie who always tells the truth, which does not always end well. One time, Rosie asks great grandfather to tell her his own story. But this story ends up not being funny, but indeed very sad. Luckily, it has a happy ending for him at least.
