In her debut novel, Tea Tulić deals with the topics of illness and death in a brilliant narrative style, with sharp observations, humour and thoughtfulness. At the centre of the family novel is the female grandmother-mother-daughter trio. From a child’s perspective, the daughter tells of her mother’s progressing illness. Gradually, the roles of mother and child are reversed. The daughter increasingly takes over the care of her mother, while the grandmother, who has been dependent on help for a long time, is to a certain extent the most childlike character in the novel.
