Историјата на луѓето кои умреа од страв [Story of People Dying of Fear] is the sixth novel by Ermis Lafazanovski, a writer known by the public for his particular narrative style. Set in Skopje in the 1970s, the novel tells of the daily life of several foreigners who temporarily live in a run-down shack on the outskirts of the city. These are mainly immigrants and political refugees waiting for their status to be clarified. The novel’s characters are subtly subjected to a variety of intimidation tactics during the course of the story, which aim to turn the individual characters into an obedient collective.
