Within a very short time, Pogačar has become a key figure on the new poetry scene in Southeast Europe. His volume Crna pokrajina is a sensual and at the same time witty examination of the conditions under which man gains freedom. History, Pogačar shows, is the task of each individual, an intimate thing to fight for, it is the “space under the fingernails”. From motifs of night, fire, wind, smoke and tar, the author weaves a darkly sparkling labyrinth of the present.
