At the beginning of the year 1920, Franz Kafka met Milena. A very close friendship developed between her and Kafka. Kafka’s diaries already showed us the true depth of their friendship, but we could only guess at what these letters, published for the first time, reveal: a romance, an orgy of desperation, bliss, self-flagellation, and self-humiliation.
