Galina Pavlova was born in Varna and studied German and Italian studies in Sofia. After graduation, she taught German as a foreign language and German literature at the language high school in Varna, at the collage for tourism, and at the Free university of Varna. She began translating literary texts already as a teacher. Since 2008, she has been a freelance translator. She has translated numerous works to Bulgarian, including books by Elke Schmitter, Gila Lustiger, Ilma Rakusa, Svetla Petrova, Karlfried Graf Dürkheim, Ingo Schulze, Bernhard del Monaco, Franz Kafka and W. G. Sebald.
