Zoran Jovanović, born in 1942, studied German Language and Literature and has been a member of the Serbian Association of Technical and Scientific translators since 1975. At the beginning of 1982 he founded the professional journal Prevodilac [The Language Mediator], of which he is now the Chief Editor. He has written a comprehensive translator manual and has published around 100 specialist articles. He has taught on the postgraduate translator course since 1976. Since 1982  Zoran Jovanović has translated and interpreted for the highest state and government bodies, for the CCI, trade unions, and companies at home and abroad. His extensive and diverse translation work ranges from fiction to technical literature. In 1985 and 2000 he received the Translator Prize of the Association, which also honoured him with a badge of distinction for his many years of voluntary work. From 1988-1990 he was President of the Yugoslavian Federal Association. He is also a founding member of the Njegoš Foundation and Vice-President of the Goethe Society in Belgrade.
