Vanina Bozhikova was born in 1975 in Pleven, Bulgaria. She received her PhD for a thesis on Romanian literature. She lectures on literary translation and contemporary Romanian language at the Sofia University St. Kliment Ohridski. She translated numerous Romanian writers of the present time to Bulgarian, including Ion Luca Caragiale, Ioan Slavici, Ștefan Bănulescu, Ioan Groșan, Nora Iuga, Mircea Cărtărescu and Cezar Paul-Bădescu.
