Thomas Pletzinger was born in 1975 in Münster, grew up in Hagen, and completed his American Studies in Hamburg. Both there and in New York he worked for various publishing houses and literary agencies. After completing a second set of studies at the German Literature Institute in Leipzig, he now works at the literary atelier adler & söhne literatur in Berlin as a freelance author, translator, and lecturer. Since April 2014 he is a professor at the University of Fine Arts in Hamburg. Thomas Pletzinger has received several awards for his literary work, including the MDR Literary Prize 2006, the 2007 development prize of the Rhine cultural prize, the 2009 Uwe Johnson Literaturpreis, and the 2010 development prize of the Federal State North Rhine-Westphalia for Young Artists.
