Milan Mikulić was born in 1949 in Novo Selo (Korenica, Croatia). He attended school in Ličko Petrovo Selo and Zagreb, studied German at the teacher’s college and then spent several semesters studying German and Romanian at the Faculty of Philosophy. He has worked as a German teacher since 1971. Milan Mikulić translates from German and Romanian. Translations completed thus far: Galgenlieder [Gallows Songs] by Christian Morgenstern and Lange Schatten [Long Shadows] by Marie Luise Kaschnitz. He has translated poems by Christian Morgenstern, Hans Arp, Marin Sorescu, Michael Krüger, Karl Krolow, Peter Huchel, Lucian Blaga, Günter Eich and Walter Helmut Fritz for several journals and radio stations.
