Martina Soldo, born in 1962 in Koper first of all studied Dramaturgy in Ljubljana.  In the Eighties she worked for Irwin, a group of visual artists, for whom she wrote and presented interpretative texts. In the Nineties she increasingly dedicated herself to translation work, learnt Hebrew and Latin at the Faculty of Theology in Ljubljana and attended lectures on philosophical topics. She then began to translate books by German philosophers, including Hannah Arendt, Karl Jaspers and Martin Heidegger. In recent years she has translated more lyrical poetry and prose, including Traumnovelle [Dream Story] by Arthur Schnitzler. In 2009 she published her volume of poetry Potapljač.
