Mariyan Petrov, born in 1961 in Sofia, is a Bulgarian writer and translator. He graduated in Bulgarian Philology at the Sofia University. He has worked as a scriptwriter and editor for various TV media and newspapers in Bulgaria, was a research assistant at the Evaluation Centre of the New Bulgarian University, and is currently a freelance writer and translator.

He is the author of 6 books (novels and short story collections) and his works have been translated into Russian, Spanish, and Macedonian. As a translator, he has translated popular modern Russian authors as well as leading Macedonian authors such as Venko Andonovski, Luan Starova, Olivera Nikolova, Tomislav Osmanli, Blaže Minewski, Vlada Urosević, Vera Kalin, Ermis Lafazanovski, etc.
