Hans-Joachim Lanksch

Hans-Joachim Lanksch was born in 1943 in Braunschweig. He studied Slavic philology, philology of the Balkans, ethnology, and Albanian studies. He lives in Munich and is translator from Albanian, Slovenian, Croatian, and Serbian to Germna. He also writes articles on Albanian literature and language for Albanian newspapers and magazines. From Albanian, he translated books by Martin Camaj, Kasëm Trebeshina, Gonxhe Bojaxhiu (Mother Theresa), Azem Shkreli, Ali Porimja, Vaxhid Xhelili, Lindita Arapi, Jonila Godole and Shaip Beqiri. His translations of poetry by Lasgush Poradeci, Zef Zorba, Mimoza Ahmeti, Luljeta Lleshanaku, Agron Tufa, Arian Leka, Rrahman Dedaj, Eqrem Basha, Flora Brovina and prose fragments by Elvira Dones, Anton Pashku and Ridvan Dibra were published in various magazines and anthologies. For his translations from Albanian, he received a fellowship of the City of Munich, the Nikolaus Lenau Prize of the Artists’ Guild Esslingen as well as the prize „Penda e Argjendtë“ (Silver Feather) of the Albanian Ministry of Culture.
