Doreida Gedaj Kafexhiu, born in 1974, obtained her degree in German studies in 1997. After further education at the University of Salzburg she began to work as an interpreter and translator for the German Embassy in Tirana. Among Doreida Gedaj Kafexhiu’s first literary translations is a short prose anthology of German-language authors (including Ernst Jünger, Hermann Hesse, Franz Werfel). In 2011, her translation of Die Zauberschule und andere Geschichten by Michael Ende was published in Tirana. Her other translations include two books from Cornelia Funke’s trilogy Tintenwelt, Thomas Bernhard’s Alte Meister and Ein kurzer Brief zum langen Abschied by Peter Handke.
