Dea Loher was born in 1964 in Traunstein. She studied philosophy and German language and literature in Munich and then moved to Brazil. After return from Brazil, Dea Loher moved to Berlin, worked for the radio and studied writing for theatre at the Academy of Arts. Today, she lives as a writer in Berlin. The play Fremdes Haus from 1995 was the beginning of her cooperation with the director Andreas Kriegenburg, who has since then put on stage most of her works. Her plays have been translated to many languages and played all around the world. She received numerous awards and honours for her works. In 2013, she became a member of the German Academy of Language and Poetry.
