Christine Nöstlinger, (1936-2018) was born in Vienna She had studied graphic arts before devoting herself entirely to writing. In 1970 she published her first children’s book, which was an immediate success. Since then she has written over one hundred picture books, children’s books and books for young people, many of which have been translated into other languages and awarded significant prizes. Christine Nöstlinger received the Hans Christian Andersen Prize for her complete works. Likewise, in 2003 she received the first Astrid Lindgren Memorial Award for her complete works.
