Sokol Mici was born in 1954. He studied Chinese and German languages and literatures in Beijing. He graduated in 1978 and worked first for the national radio and TV station. From 1994 to 1997, he was the director of the Tirana office of the Friedrich Ebert Foundation. Later, he was an editor at the International Center for Journalists Washington. From 1999 to 2004, he was the Albanian correspondent for the New York’s World Press View. In 2005, he started working for the Tirana city administration, first heading the department for economic development until 2007, and between 2008 and 2013 the department for economic promotion. He has translated numerous works from English and German. Among his German translations are books by Michael Ende, Herta Müller, Maximilian Lambertz, Manfred G. Schmidt, Martin Andersen, Elfie Donnelly und Lion Feuchtwanger.
