Tijana Tropin was born in 1977 in Belgrade, Serbia. In 2000 she finished her studies of World Literature and Literary Studies at the University of Belgrade. Since 2003 she works at the Belgrade Institute for Literature and Arts focusing on children’s literature, fantasy, and translation theory. Among the authors she has translated are Marcel Beyer, Felicitas Hoppe, Ulrich Beck, Edgar Grande, Elfriede Jelinek, Gustav Meyrink, Herta Müller, Leo Perutz, Gerhard Podskalsky, Christoph Ransmayr, Martin Walser, and Benedict Wells.
