“In his poetry, Zvonko Maković describes fragments of reality, he names and points to objects and people directly and depicts and deconstructs the everyday in photographic detail. Identity is dissolved and portrayed in a process of disenchantment. Maković is a postmodern author who questions whether a poet can truly convey intense, personal experience. Unlike other authors of his generation, he writes only about how the world lost its innocence, when objects and living beings lost their natural and justified true names. Maković’s simple poetry is imbued with a sense of aesthetic resignation and ethical disillusionment.” (Poetry Festival Berlin)
