Sjećanje šume

Through childlike play and small escapades a young boy rebels against his rugged countryside surroundings. Born with a heart defect, he is not the heir his father had wished for, nor the pair of strong hands the farm, already struggling, needs and requires. The silent presence of the hard-working and quarrelsome patriarch is felt everywhere and neither mother nor grandmother can protect the boy against it. The boy escapes into an imaginary world and dreams of his future – far removed from the godforsaken Croatian backwater, where tending cows and superstition and witchery are on the daily order, veterinarians treat people, and stark winters without snow forebode the apocalypse.
