Selected Poems

The title of this selection of poems of Ingeborg Bachmann originates from a poem that was included in her poetry book, published in 1953, that bestowed Bachmann the fame of one of the most prominent German poets. “Only one slim book of poetry Die gestundete Zeit and already her name was known to everyone, also to those who were not dealing with poetry professionally. Since Gottfried Benn, there hadn’t been such a poetical talent in the German speaking area who could so convincingly express the fundamental condition of the poetical existence as Ingeborg Bachmann” (Günter Blöcker, Frankfurter Allgemeine Zeitung).
