A cross-border novel about a fearless woman. Iris and Relja return with their mother to their destroyed house in the border region near Bosnia. The siblings and the neighbor boy Nino roam through the depopulated village, swim in the river, explore their bodies. Iris explores her own—and Nino’s. Nino, meanwhile, dreams of her brother Relja. The symbiotic threesome gradually falls apart: Nino and Relja leave, while the headstrong Iris stays behind.

Bars, truck cabins, back seats of cars. Uncompromisingly, Iris fights for a self-determined life on the threshold of the new millennium, preserving her inner integrity in a devastated world.
