Until the day of the disaster, there were two Goldman families. The Baltimore Goldmans and the Montclair Goldmans. The ‘Montclairs’ are a typical middle-class family, small house in unfancy New Jersey, state school for Marcus, the only son. The Goldmans from Baltimore are quite different: they are wealthy and successful, their son Hillel is highly gifted, their adopted son Woody is a first-class sports ace. As a child, Marcus is torn between admiration for these ‘better’ relatives and jealousy of their perfect life. But Hillel and Woody are his best friends, as a threesome they are unbeatable, as a threesome they have a crush on the neighbour’s girl Alexandra – until one day their ideal world shatters forever.
