On the threshold of the 21st century, time gets out of sync. Time and space levels shift in this novel, which is set in Macedonia at the turn of the millennium, but also in the USA, Afghanistan and Suriname. The fates of 33 people from the past and present intertwine: All at the same time in the East and the West, in reality and fiction, in the present and another, accelerated past, in war and in a time of peace that resembles war. Certainties are shaken, the lives of the protagonists are torn apart. What remains is the hope for a better future.
