At first glance, Dunkelblum is a small town like any other. But behind the façade of this Austrian community, the story of a terrible crime is rearing its ugly head. The witnessing of these past events has bound the older citizens of Dunkelblum together for decades, joint in their silence about the crime and its perpetrator: In the late summer of 1989, when hundreds of GDR refugees are already patiently waiting behind the nearby border crossing on the Hungarian side, a mysterious visitor arrives in town and, suddenly, everything seems in upheaval.
