An exciting novel about the English explorer Richard Burton (1821-1890). Instead of leading a typical English way of life in the colonies, he obsessively learns the languages of the natives, delves into strange religions and travels anonymously through the colonies, much to the dismay of the authorities. Trojanow’s colorful adventure novel about this eccentric figure shows why the West has not understood anything of the mysteries of the other worlds up to the present day.
