Една и съща река

Evtimova’s novel Една и съща река [„One and the Same River“] tells the story of three sisters – Ljuba, Sara and Pirina, who live in the small Buglarian town of Radomir. Pirina sings – in her songs no words nor melodies can be found but they heal melancholia. Sara changes her partners at a quick pace; one even builds a church for her. Ljuba reads so many books, that she is absent from daily life and her life itself – making her attractive for some. We never step into one and the same river twice. In Zdavka Evtimova’s story the river does not flow along its designated path, but whereto the songs of the characters lead him.
