Zoran Živković, born in 1948, studied Literature at the Faculty of Philology at the University of Belgrade and received his Ph.D. in 1982 with a work about Science Fiction. He has published 19 prose works and is one of the most translated Serbian writers alive today. Translations of his works have appeared in the USA, Great Britain, Germany, Spain, Portugal, Denmark, Greece, Switzerland, Italy, Holland, Japan, South Korea, Turkey, Russia, the Czech Republic, Poland, Bulgaria, Slovenia and Croatia. In addition to numerous other awards he received the World Fantasy Award in 2003 for his book Biblioteka [The Library].
