Viktor Žmegač

Viktor Žmegač was born in 1929 in Slatina, Croatia. He studied German and Croatian languages and literatures, and musical studies and was for many years professor at the University of Zagreb. Since 2002, he has been professor emeritus. He received many awards for his scientific and journalistic work, including the Friedrich Gundolf Prize and the Herder Prize. Viktor Žmegač ist member of the Saxonian Academy of Sciences and Humanities in Leipzig and of the Academia Europaea.
