Victor Chiriţă, born in 1953, attended the German Primary School in Bucharest and the German Grammar School. He studied German Language and Literature and English Language and Literature and worked as a German and English teacher until 1990. He then began to work for Romanian public television. He has worked there since 2006 as the News Editor in the news editorial department of foreign news. As part of the TRADUKI sponsorship programme Victor Chiriţă translated the book Simple Storys. Ein Roman aus der ostdeutschen Provinz (title of the English translation: Simple Stories: A Novel from the East German Province) by Ingo Schulze into Romanian.
