Vesela Ljahova, born in 1961, is a Bulgarian author. She made her debut with the short-story collection До слънцето : Повести, followed by a monograph about the Bulgarian Kant translator Tseko Torbov. Her big breakthrough came with her novel Бежанци (2013), in which she depicts the history of her ancestors and the fate and displacement of ethnic Bulgarians in the Greek region of Macedonia in the 40s of the 20th century. The main protagonist of her volume of short-stories Квартал “Зона обиколна” is no one else but the city itself, namely the Bulgarian capital Sofia.
