Valeria Jäger was born in 1951 in Vraca/Bulgaria. She has lived in Vienna since 1973 and studied translation science there.  She worked as an interpreter in Russian and Bulgarian, was a reader at the Institute for Slavonic Studies at Vienna University and literary translator from Bulgarian and Russian. She was also co-publisher of a series of anthologies of works of Bulgarian and Russian authors. She received the translator prize appreciation award for the translation of Konstantin Pavlov’s lyric poetry. Valeria Jäger died in 2001 in Vienna.
