Vahidin Preljević, born in 1975 in Brčko (Bosnia and Herzegovina), studied from 1995 to 1996 German and Italian languages and literatures, and Media studies in Halle, Germany, and from 1996 to 1999 German language and literature at the Faculty of Arts in Sarajevo. After graduation he worked at the Faculty as the expert assistant for German literature. He visited Vienna and Mannheim for research purposes and enrolled for post-graduate studies of literary studies and German philology. He earned his PhD in literary studies in 2008. He has been the head of the German department at the Faculty of Arts in Sarajevo since 2009. Besides his scientific activities, Vahidin Preljević writes essays and translates from German to Bosnian. He has translated many scientific and literary texts, including the novel Turlupin by Leo Perutz.
