Stefan Çapaliku, born in Shkodër in 1965, studied Albanian language and literature in Tirana. Additionally, he also spent some time in Italy, England, and the Czech Republic. In 1996, he obtained his doctorate. Since 1993, he has headed the Department of Literature at Shkodër University. From 1998 to 2005 he worked for the Ministry of Culture and taught aesthetics and drama theory at the Academy of Art in Tirana. Since 2005, he has been a researcher at the Centre for Art Studies and teaching at various public and private universities. He also works as a theater and film director. Çapaliku published his first volume of poetry in 1993. In addition to poems, his work also includes essays, monographs, prose and more than 20 plays, for which he has received numerous awards at international theater festivals. Some of his works have been translated into English, German, French, Italian, Romanian, Polish, Bulgarian, Serbian, Macedonian and Turkish.
