Polona Glavan was born in 1974 in Ljubljana, Slovenia. She graduated in comparative literature and English at the University of Ljubljana in 2000 and has worked as a translator for the Slovenian Government since 2002. She translates English, American, Irish, Croatian and Bosnian literature into Slovenian and a variety of other texts from English into Slovenian and vice versa. Glavan has translated works by authors such as H. Arendt, J. Franzen, H. Lee, H. Kureishi, B. Latour, K. Vonnegut and I. Sajko, and co-edited an anthology of contemporary British fiction in 2003. She has also authored three books: two novels and a short story collection.
