Peter Sloterdijk, born in 1947 in Karlsruhe, studied Philosophy, German and History in Munich and obtained his Ph.D. in 1975 in Hamburg with a thesis on the Philosophy and History of modern autobiographical literature. He has been a Professor at Karlsruhe College for Design since 1992 and has also been its Principal since 2001. From 1989-2008 he ran the Institute for Cultural Philosophy at the Academy of Fine Arts in Vienna. Peter Sloterdijk achieved recognition through his programme on ZDF, “The Philosophical Quartet”, which he ran jointly with Rüdiger Safranski. As a freelance writer Peter Sloterdijk has published numerous works on issues of time diagnostics, cultural and religious philosophy, the theory of art and psychology.
