Patricija Horvat, born in Osijek in 1970, studied German and English at the University of Osijek. During her studies she spent several scholarship stays in Germany and Austria. Since 1998 she has lived in Split, where she works as a freelance translator. She organises and directs the literary programme “Bookvica” in Split and moderates at various literary festivals. Patricija Horvat has been a member of the Association of Croatian Literary Translators since 2005. So far she has translated more than 30 novels. She has translated Ralf Rothmann and Silvia Bovenschen from German and John Williams (Stoner and Augustus), Paul Beatty, Alain de Botton, Alan Bennett, Slavoj Žižek, Agatha Christie and Ruth Rendell from English.
