Parmena Zirina, born in 1981 in Wolkendorf, did her Master’s in Interlinguistic and Intercultural European Studies, taking courses abroad in Marburg, Heidelberg and Trier and Karlovo in Bulgaria. In 2003 she won second prize in a literary competition organised by the DAAD and the German Embassy in Bucharest with the essay “It’s raining in Europe”. In 2008, she started translating with Univers Publishing House Bucharest, including texts by Franz Kafka and Rudyard Kypling. Now she translates children’s books in her spare time. She lives and works in Siebendörfer, Romania.
