Kirsten Boie
Kirsten Boie, born in 1950 in Hamburg, is one of the best-known German authors of modern novels for children and young adults. She studied German and English and received her doctorate of Literature, specialising in the early prose of Bertolt Brecht. She first worked as a teacher. In 1985, she published her first children’s book, “Paule ist ein Glücksgriff” [Paule is a Lucky Strike], which enjoyed great success. Since then, she has written over 60 books. Her works have been translated into numerous languages. In addition to children’s and young adult books, Kirsten Boie also composes short scripts for children’s TV, as well as speeches and essays about various aspects of children’s and young adult literature. In 2007, she was awarded the special award of the German Jugendliteraturpreis for her complete works.
