Katja Petrowskaja, born 1970 in Kyiv, studied Literary Studies in Tartu (Estonia) and received her PhD in 1998 in Moscow. Since 1999, she has been living in Berlin. 2014 saw the publication of her much-lauded debut Vielleicht Esther. She has received several accolades for her writing, including the Premio Strega Europeo 2015, the Schubart Literary Prize of the City of Aalen 2015, the Ernst Toller Award 2015, the „aspekte“ prize 2014 and the Ingeborg Bachmann Award 2013. In 2014, she was nominated for the Prize of the Leipzig Book Fair.
