Jürgen Habermas

Jürgen Habermas was born on 18 June 1929 in Düsseldorf. From 1949 to 1954 he studied philosophy, history, psychology, German literature and economics in Göttingen, Zürich and Bonn . He has taught among other places at the universities of Heidelberg and Frankfurt as well as the University of California in Berkeley. He has received numerous honorary doctorates and prizes. In 2001 he was awarded the Peace Prize of the German Book Trade.
