Juli Zeh, born in 1974 in Bonn, studied Law in Passau and Leipzig. From 1996 to 2000 she studied in Leipzig at the German Literary Institute. Her works have been characterised by numerous residences abroad, including for the UN in New York and Krakow and, above all, in Sarajevo, Bosnia and Herzegovina. Juli Zeh has received many awards for her works. The numerous prizes, which she has received for her works, include: the German Book Prize, the Rauriser Literary Prize, the Hölderlin Sponsorship Award, the Ernst Toller Prize and the Solothurn Literary Prize. Her first novel Adler und Engel has been translated into 29 languages.
