Joschka Fischer, born in 1948 in Gerabronn, was Foreign Minister of the Federal Republic of Germany from 1998 to 2005. He began his political career in 1982 with entry to the Green Party. Joschka Fischer was for many years a member of the German Bundestag (Federal Parliament), from 1985-1987 was the Minister for Environment and Energy in the state of Hessen and from 1987-1991 was Chairman of the Parliamentary Group of the Green Party in the Hessian Landtag (state parliament).
